Three very industrious people set up this Michigan-based company in the year 1946. These three people were none other than Daniel J. Wellehan, Sr., William Beaudoin and Joseph Cordeau. This was a very big feat to achieve because this was still a private label business and it would have been extremely difficult for such a company to achieve. The year 1984 was extremely important in the life of this company because of the fact that this was the year that the company managed to reach the 1,000,000 mark in the total number of shoes that had been sold until that time.

It was then obvious that the time for the Sebago shoes to go international had arrived. This led to the company going ahead and signing a new deal with a Switzerland company. This made them to become extremely lovely brand and even to go further throughout the world. In the 70's the company went ahead and so a number of changes into their products. First, they brought in the first machine-shone brand. After this, they managed to drop out the tag "moc" which hand always been included in their brand name, "Sebago-moc." The reason why this tag had always been included in the brand is simply because of the fact that brand had been designed based on the moccasins of the period.

The pattern of growth that was exhibited in the 70's was the same that was replicated in the 80s and the 90s. currently, the shoes are sold in over 85 countries. At this point in time, new products are being developed that will not only be able to maintain the classic touch of this brand, but also come up with some very stylish designs.
